Hello, my name is Rene. I am the sole owner and creator of my very first blog, Prism.
I titled this blog Prism because while I was brainstorming names, I stumbled upon the word prison. That word felt so true to me in that moment due to me feeling so overwhelmed with school, not working, unfulfilled relationships, being financially unstable. Oh, and yeah I forgot to mention I am a veteran who has been diagnosed with mental illness-related nouns that I will talk about in another blog.
There was A LOT going on for me over the summer of 2021.
Back to prison, well, it was tough. The only thing that really helped ease my mind and my heart was writing. Writing it out until I felt that it was enough to conquer the day, week, or hour. Then, it hit me. What if the prison I felt I was in, wasn't really a prison but a different part/piece of a bigger picture? Prism was born.

As described by Merriam-Webster dictionary, one of the definitions of a prism is "a medium that distorts, slants, or colors whatever is viewed through it."
The purpose behind my blog is not to be an illusion but an illustration of my life in a way that helps, heals, encourages, and reminds you that sometimes what we think we know, see, and feel in one season of our lives is not the entire story. There is MORE.
There is MORE life out there. MORE love to be felt and given. MORE chapters to be written in your life's story. At one point, I didn't there was MORE of me to give or see, but there was. I just had to find the light.
